Role: Commissioning Engineer – Power Distribution (132 kV and below)

Vacancy Type: Permanent
Location: On site in Hertfordshire, 4 days a week

What will you be doing?

You’ll be part of our substation build team working on UKPN’s 11 kV, 33 kV & 132 kV Distribution Network on projects across the East of England. You’ll attend client meetings, encourage innovation, and resolve design issues on site. Your role includes producing commissioning plans, testing and commissioning high voltage plant and apparatus, and ensuring compliance with current legislation. You’ll also review and correct drawings, manage people safely, and mentor team members to enhance their technical knowledge.

What you’ll bring
  • Proven track record in Testing and Commissioning on High Voltage distribution networks
  • Sound experience of engineering policy, procedure, and legislation
  • Strong decision‑making skill and ability to identify and develop processes to improve outputs
  • Effective communication and engagement with internal and external stakeholders
  • Knowledge of current Health, Safety, and Environment legislation
  • Team player, working well with clients, designers, and site project staff
  • Qualified to HNC/Degree Level in Electrical Engineering
  • Full UK drivers licence – you will need to travel to various sites.
