Job summary

Galliford Try Group is seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to lead MEICA and commissioning delivery on Affinity Water AMP 8 projects. The role is based in Rickmansworth with travel across the Affinity Water network and sites in Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and London.

You will develop commissioning plans, manage interfaces with existing assets, supervise testing (FAT/SAT) and support handover readiness while upholding safety and Galliford Try standards.

• CSCS/ECS Card in appropriate discipline.
• BS7671 (18th Edition).
• Full UK driving licence
• SSSTS

Responsibilities

• Lead the commissioning delivery for assigned projects from outline design through to project takeover.
• Develop and implement Commissioning Plans, Strategies, and documentation meeting scope and timelines.
• Manage interfaces with existing assets and coordinate with Client Asset Operations Team for smooth integration.
• Oversee MEICA installation to ensure compliance with technical requirements and industry standards (incl. WIMES).
• Coordinate and supervise testing and commissioning activities (FAT, SAT, dry and wet commissioning).
• Engage with specialist teams to ensure clarity on deliverables and timescales.
• Support training plans and ensure operational readiness for handover.
• Maintain rigorous safety standards and Galliford Try processes across activities.

Commissioning Engineer - Affinity Water AMP 8 Framework

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join the team at Galliford Try on the Affinity Clean Water AMP 8 Framework.

Are you passionate about bringing complex engineering projects to life? We’re looking for an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join our team and play a key role in delivering high-quality MEICA and commissioning solutions for water industry projects.

As our Commissioning Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of project delivery, ensuring systems and processes are integrated seamlessly and operate to the highest standard.

Ideally you will be based in Herts, Bucks or London and be prepared to travel across multiple sites on the Affinity Water network.

What you will be doing:

• Leading the commissioning delivery for assigned projects, from outline design through to project takeover.
• Developing and implementing Commissioning Plans, Strategies, and documentation that meet project scope and timelines.
• Managing interfaces with existing assets and working closely with the Client Asset Operations Team for smooth integration.
• Overseeing MEICA installation to ensure compliance with technical requirements, client specifications, and industry standards (including WIMES).
• Coordinating and supervising testing and commissioning activities, including FAT, SAT, dry and wet commissioning.
• Engaging with specialist teams (DSEAR, Technical Authors, Document Controllers) to ensure clarity on deliverables and timescales.
• Supporting training plans and ensuring operational readiness for project handover.
• Maintaining rigorous safety standards and adherence to Galliford Try processes throughout all activities.

About you:

• Proven experience in MEICA and commissioning delivery within the water industry.
• Strong site management skills and ability to resolve issues promptly.
• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment used in water treatment processes.
• A structured approach to commissioning plant, equipment, and processes.
• Understanding of health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office for reporting and documentation.
• Ideally, qualifications or experience to act as an LV Electrical Authorised Person (EAP) under Electrical Safety Rules.
