Job summary

Rubicon Consulting is recruiting a Commissioning Engineer for a 6-month contract based in the Northwest to support SP Energy Networks projects.

You will commission Protection & Control schemes on 132kV substations, perform testing, ensure compliance with SPEN standards, and collaborate with client engineers and site teams to keep the programme on track.

Qualifications

• Experience commissioning 132kV substations or higher.
• Authorisations for SPEN substations are essential.
• Proactive safety and quality commitment.
• Experience with P&C schemes and testing.

Responsibilities

• Commission Protection & Control schemes on 132kV AIS & GIS substations.
• Perform functional testing, primary and secondary injection testing, and end-to-end testing.
• Adhere to SPEN safety rules, procedures, and standards.
• Liaise with client engineers, project teams, and site personnel to deliver works on programme.
• Support the successful delivery of critical network infrastructure projects.

Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for Commissioning Engineer on a 6 Month Contract, based in Northwest.

We're currently recruiting for an experienced Commissioning Engineer to support 132kV substation projects for SP Energy Networks (SPEN) across the North West.

You’ll be responsible for the commissioning of Protection & Control (P&C) schemes on 132kV substations, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with SPEN standards.

Key responsibilities

• Commissioning Protection & Control schemes on 132kV AIS & GIS substations
• Functional testing, primary and secondary injection testing, and end-to-end testing
• Working in accordance with SPEN safety rules, procedures, and standards
• Liaising with client engineers, project teams, and site personnel to deliver works on programme
• Supporting the successful delivery of critical network infrastructure projects

Requirements

• Current SPEN substation authorisations (essential)
• Demonstrable commissioning experience on 132kV substations (or above)
• Previous experience working on SPEN or other DNO/Transmission Network projects
• Strong knowledge of Protection & Control commissioning and testing
• A proactive approach with a strong commitment to safety and quality
