Job summary

TRIA in Stourbridge is recruiting an experienced HV Commissioning Engineer to deliver testing and commissioning of HV switchgear across a nationwide portfolio. You will take ownership of commissioning activities, interpret drawings and produce detailed testing reports, while maintaining safety and quality standards.

You'll travel nationwide with overnight stays, supported by a company van, accommodation and travel expenses.

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on experience testing and commissioning HV switchgear.
• Experience working on HV substations and associated electrical equipment.
• Full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Carry out hands-on testing and commissioning of HV switchgear and associated electrical equipment.
• Perform electrical testing, fault-finding and verification to ensure equipment is ready for safe energisation.
• Work across a variety of sites and projects nationwide, taking responsibility for delivering commissioning activities independently.
• Interpret electrical drawings, schematics and technical specifications to complete commissioning work.
• Produce test results, commissioning reports and associated technical documentation.
• Work closely with the existing commissioning team to deliver projects safely and effectively.
• Access further training and development opportunities depending on your experience and interests.

Excellent opportunity for an experienced HV Commissioning Engineer to join an established, close-knit electrical infrastructure business with a strong pipeline of work and the opportunity to play a key role in its continued growth.

The business is looking to expand its commissioning team with someone who can independently deliver HV switchgear testing and commissioning across a varied portfolio of projects nationwide. The role involves nationwide travel, with overnight stays during the working week. A company van is provided, with accommodation and travel expenses covered, alongside paid door-to-door travel.

The Role:

The Person:

• Proven hands‑on experience testing and commissioning HV switchgear
• Experience working on HV substations and associated electrical equipment
• Able to carry out testing and commissioning independently, rather than primarily assisting other engineers
• Strong practical knowledge of HV equipment, electrical testing and fault‑finding
• Able to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentation
• Full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK
• Comfortable travelling nationwide and staying away from home during the working week
