Job summary

g2 Recruitment is seeking experienced LV Commissioning Engineers to support data centre projects in Slough and Canary Wharf. You will commission LV switchgear and switchboards, perform live and dead testing, and ensure safe operation of critical infrastructure.

Applicants must have hands-on expertise, own van and tools, and be eligible to work freelance; available to start ASAP; previous data centre experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• LV switchgear/switchboard commissioning required.
• Live and dead testing experience necessary.
• Safe Isolation (LOTO) knowledge essential.
• Electrical fault finding capabilities required.
• Protection testing experience preferred.
• Generator ATS/AMF changeover knowledge helpful.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and single-line diagrams.
• Background in data centres or critical environments advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Commission LV switchgear and switchboards.
• Perform live and dead testing and functional checks.
• Conduct insulation resistance and phase rotation tests.
• Carry out protection and interlock testing.
• Test ATS/AMF and generator changeover systems.
• Verify PLC I/O and remote interfaces; check metering/Modbus.
• Work safely in RAMS, Safe Isolation procedures and PTW.

• Commissioning LV switchgear and switchboards
• Live and dead testing
• Functional testing and fault finding
• Insulation resistance testing
• Phase rotation testing
• Protection and interlock testing
• ATS/AMF and generator changeover testing
• PLC I/O and remote interface checks
• Metering and Modbus/RS485 communication verification
• Working safely in accordance with RAMS, Safe Isolation procedures and Permit to Work systems

Essential Experience:

• LV switchgear/switchboard commissioning
• Live and dead testing
• Safe Isolation (LOTO)
• Electrical fault finding
• Protection testing
• Generator changeover systems (ATS/AMF)
• Ability to read electrical schematics and single-line diagrams
• Previous experience working in data centres or other critical environments
