Job summary

United Living Group is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to lead the pre-commissioning and commissioning of electrical equipment on site. You will hand over a fully operational system for customer acceptance and ensure all safety procedures are followed.

The role requires 5+ years in the power industry, an engineering qualification (HNC or equivalent), strong English communication, the ability to work away from home up to 80%, and familiarity with protection relays and tests.

Qualifications

• HNC or engineering equivalent required.
• At least 5 years in the Power industry.
• Strong English communication skills, written and verbal.
• Full UK driving license and knowledge of protection relays.

Responsibilities

• Carry out and document pre-commissioning and commissioning tasks.
• Hand over a fully operational system for customer acceptance.
• Maintain health and safety procedures on site and file docs.
• Update commissioning schedules, handover and witnessing docs.
• Perform FAT/SAT tests and support major projects.
• Carry out site surveys and compile RAMs.
• Maintain Continuous Professional Development.

• Ensure health and safety procedures and standards are followed on site. Ensure all Health and safety documentation is filed, maintained and updated on site.
• Ensure commissioning schedules, handover and witnessing documents are updated, maintained, completed and filed/issued to the project manager prior to project completion.
• Carry out factory acceptance testing when required, Site acceptance testing and customer witnessing.
• Ensure sites are cleared of equipment and materials/products prior to handover/completion.
• To undertake any other duties as requested by senior staff.
• Carrying out site surveys to support project teams where required
• Compile RAMs where required
• Observing & complying with health and safety regulations.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications/Experience:

• HNC or equivalent in Engineering.
• At least 5-years working within the Power Industry.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal and ability to communicate effectively.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Computer literate with experience of Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook.
• Full UK Driving license.
• Has good working knowledge of basic protection relays and functions.
• Is capable of performing tests such as Contact resistance (Ductor), Insulation resistance, AC dielectric withstand tests, CT/VT primary and polarity checks, relay secondary injection, scheme checks and CT analysis.
• Capable of working with protection relays and making minor changes to settings and configs as and when required.
• Installation tests on distribution Transformers.
• Occasionally helping senior commissioning engineers on major projects.

Working away from home is expected around 80% of the year.
