Commissioning Engineer - Power Generation / Generator Systems

£42,000-£52,000 + Company Vehicle + Overtime + Benefits

Field-Based | UK Travel | Full-Time | Monday-Friday (8am-5pm)

A leading UK specialist in standby power, uninterruptible power supplies and CHP systems is seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join its Projects team. With over 40 years in the critical power sector and a strong reputation for technical excellence, engineering quality and long-term customer partnerships, this is an excellent opportunity to join a stable, well-established company with genuine career progression.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on-site commissioning of generator systems, ensuring full compliance with design, specification and performance requirements
  • Attend internal design meetings and collaborate with Design Engineers and Project Managers
  • Coordinate testing and commissioning activities, including documentation and procedural guidance
  • Work closely with client-side engineers, BMS teams, DNOs and IT departments to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Oversee system testing, record results, witness acceptance, and compile documentation for project handover
  • Ensure safe and efficient commissioning of completed installations in line with project timelines
  • Deliver on-site handover training to client teams
  • Support installation activities and FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) when required
Essential Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a Generator Commissioning Engineer (or similar role)
  • Strong electrical engineering knowledge across LV generation and power distribution systems
  • Experience with control systems such as ComAp, Deep Sea Electronics (DSE), and related software suites
  • Confident working with multi-set systems, synchronisation, G99 testing and commissioning
  • Practical PLC programming experience
  • Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and laptop-based engine/control software
  • Able to work independently, manage on-site activities and handle pressured situations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
