Job summary

Envirogen is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to lead projects from installation through handover in the water treatment and process sectors. You’ll coordinate testing, validation and start-up, ensuring systems perform exactly as designed while maintaining safety and quality standards.

In this role you’ll work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, subcontractors and clients, resolving technical issues and delivering a positive customer experience on site.

Qualifications

• Experience commissioning mechanical, electrical, control or process systems in industrial settings.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, drawings, and specifications.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Experience on-site with contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
• Engineering degree or equivalent in engineering.
• Proactive communicator with a focus on delivering projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning across water and process projects.
• Conduct pre-commissioning checks, testing and start-up.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors and clients.
• Identify and resolve issues during testing and start-up.
• Manage commissioning documentation and handover packs.
• Act as main client contact during commissioning.
• Ensure activities meet safety, quality and environmental standards.

As a Commissioning Engineer, you will play a key role in taking projects from installation through to successful handover, ensuring systems are tested, validated and operating exactly as designed.

What You'll Do

• Lead and coordinate commissioning activities across a variety of water and process treatment projects.
• Carry out pre-commissioning checks, functional testing, system start-up, optimisation and performance validation.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, subcontractors and clients to ensure smooth project delivery.
• Identify and resolve technical issues during testing and start-up.
• Manage commissioning documentation, test records and handover packs.
• Act as the main client contact during commissioning, building strong relationships and ensuring a positive customer experience.
• Ensure all activities are delivered safely and in line with quality, environmental and compliance standards.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

• Experience commissioning mechanical, electrical, control or process systems within industrial, utilities, water or manufacturing environments.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, technical drawings and engineering specifications.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working on-site with contractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent in an Engineering discipline.
• A proactive approach, excellent communication skills and a passion for delivering projects successfully.
