As an Area Commissioning Manager, you will manage a fast-moving, intelligent team of commissioning professionals delivering data centre capacity to support Amazon's growth in EMEA.
The ideal candidate has experience managing a multi-city or international team of highly skilled professionals. They bring strong team and stakeholder management skills, along with a background in mechanical, electrical, construction, or project management. This foundation enables them to hire, develop, and lead a team that delivers world-class data centres. The candidate must think broadly to maximise operational efficiency and remain adaptable to change in support of broader business objectives.
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud growing. We support all AWS data centres critical infrastructures, power and cooling equipment supporting all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain and we're looking for talented people who want to help.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety, security and quality while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
The responsibilities of the Commissioning Area Manager include owning the challenges in ensuring the quality and reliability of electrical and mechanical systems for our customers. You will think broadly and strategically in setting visions and prioritising the commissioning programme aligned with goals of the larger organisation. You lead a team of commissioning engineers, with broad responsibilities to hire, build a high-performing team and lead the safety culture by example. Utilising industrial standards and company goals, you develop and manage quality-focused initiatives, manage and analyse metrics to drive innovation and continuous improvements. You communicate and provide guidance to Finance during capital budgeting, making data-driven decisions to deliver predictable cost estimations. You create standards and build consensus with a broad spectrum of stakeholders on cross-functional teams that will operate to deliver on the quality policy.
In this role, you will have an EMEA and global presence, which will include 20% travelling to sites located in-country, across EMEA and globally. As a leader, you provide clear communication and vision for the business. You report to the Regional Commissioning Manager, and you develop metrics to ensure compliance with business requirements and safety. You are accountable for weekly reporting of commissioning progress and metrics for your team's projects. You communicate clearly both verbally and written, leveraging interpersonal skills to effectively coordinate with stakeholders, using data to justify conclusions when dealing with ambiguity. You dig deep to develop creative and innovative solutions to reduce costs and duration with no impact to quality and reliability. You will work in a high-velocity environment, on multiple strategic initiatives, and maintain a high-performing team simultaneously under tight deadlines and according to prescribed metrics.
