Job summary

United Airlines Lounge Terminal 2 in the UK is seeking a casual Commis Chef / Kitchen Assistant to support the kitchen team in correct preparation, cooking, and presentation of food as directed by management. You will participate in training, maintain high hygiene standards, and be punctual for shifts across a busy lounge.

Role is casual with potential permanent status after vetting and airside pass; shifts include 4am–10pm availability, 4 on 2 off, with a pay rate of £14.06 per hour.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as commis chef or kitchen assistant in a busy environment.
• Able to work calmly under pressure and stay focused on quality.

Responsibilities

• Assist in correct preparation, cooking, and presentation of food as per kitchen standards.
• Maintain hygiene and presentation standards, and ensure punctuality for shifts.
• Assist with deliveries, storage and stock rotation to Sodexo standards.
• Support in maintaining kitchen equipment and safety procedures.

Commis Chef / Kitchen Assistant at United Airlines Lounge Terminal 2,

• To ensure that you understand the correct preparation, cooking, presentation & service of food, as implemented by the kitchen management team
• To be responsive to all training provided and to attend all training sessions
• To take responsibility for your own career path and continuous self-improvement
• Have excellent levels of persona l hygiene and presentation standards
• Be correctly dressed in clean uniform at all times
• To be consistently punctual for all scheduled shifts
• Ensuring the aesthetic standards of presentation of the kitchen & the pass are excellent at all times from all areas of the kitchen and the team are consistently focused on maintaining this
• Clean and maintain all kitchen equipment to maximize efficiency & prolong life
• To order and accept all deliveries to Sodexo standards and to ensure that all stock meets both company and legal standards, as set out by the kitchen management team
• Assist in accurate record keeping, security and safe storage of all relevant deliveries
• To assist in the implementation all fire regulations and procedures and assist in evacuations as necessary
• Monitor all equipment & report any maintenance issues in cooperation with the Manager
• To assist with the ordering, storage and careful use of all kitchen supplies
• Maintain all Kitchen Equipment as well as possible to minimise maintenance costs
• Adhere to the correct product storage, stock rotation, food quality and portion control as set out by the kitchen management team. Previous experience as commis chef or kitchen assistant, who has worked in busy and fast paced work environment
• Calm and patient under pressure

• 4 on 2 off, ( lounge opening hours 4am to 10 pm, shift pattern will vary according to business needs , can be early start mid early starts and afternoon start shift patterns )
• Role is casual and will be made permanent once vetted and an airside pass is obtained for the airport - and on completion of the probation period
