About the Role

As aCommis Chef Level 2 Apprentice, you will gainhands-on experiencein a professional kitchen while working towards aLevel 2 Commis Chef qualification. Under the guidance of experienced Holroyd Howe chefs, you will learn essential skills, including:

  • Food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and presentation skills
  • Working efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Understanding and maintainingfood hygiene, safety, and allergen regulations
  • Assisting in the production of high-quality meals for students, staff, and special events
  • Learning how to work with fresh, seasonal ingredients to createhealthy and delicious dishes
  • Supporting stock control, ordering, and kitchen organisation



Qualifications

Required Qualifications & Training

To be eligible for theCommis Chef Level 2 Apprenticerole atHolroyd Howe, Stowe School, you should have:

Essential:

  • A keen interest in cooking and professional catering
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above preferred) – if not already achieved, support will be provided to complete these as part of the apprenticeship
  • A willingness to learn and work towards a Level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship
  • A strong work ethic, enthusiasm, and commitment to training
  • Desirable:

  • Previous kitchen experience (not essential, but beneficial)
  • A Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (if not held, training will be provided)
  • Knowledge of food safety, allergens, and hygiene standards
