Job description

We're delighted to be recruiting a Commis Chef to join our team at Restaurant Associates Venues, based at the iconic Salisbury Cathedral. This is a unique opportunity to create memorable food experiences in one of the UK's most historic and inspiring locations.

This is a casual position where you'll work closely with and take direction from the Head Chef or Sous Chef, gaining hands-on experience in a supportive and friendly kitchen environment. You'll enjoy a welcoming atmosphere, with the chance to build your skills as part of a passionate team.

What you'll be doing:
  • Preparing and presenting lunches, cakes, and sandwiches to a high standard

  • Supporting the Head Chef and Sous Chef with day-to-day kitchen operations

  • Managing stock and ensuring accurate control of ingredients

  • Identifying opportunities to enhance our food offering

  • Listening to customer feedback and using it to continually improve our service

  • Assisting with menu development and contributing creative ideas

  • Representing Restaurant Associates with pride and professionalism

  • Maintaining hygiene standards and ensuring compliance with Food Handling, Hygiene, and Health & Safety regulations

Role details:
  • Contract: Casual position

  • Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week

  • Shifts: 07:30 - 16:00, 5 out of 7 days

  • Weekends: Alternate weekends

  • Evenings: Occasional evening shifts (pre-arranged)

  • Environment: Supportive, friendly, and team-focused
