Qualifications

  • Previous kitchen experience in a café, restaurant, or catering environment is desirable.
  • Food Hygiene Level 2 certification or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the daily operations of the kitchen.
  • Work with the Head Chef/Sous Chef on new menu ideas.
  • Develop and train culinary skills with the Head Chef/Sous Chef.
  • Follow safety regulations, including HACCP and Health & Safety.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and gather feedback.
  • Check the quality of culinary products regularly.
  • Complete health & safety documentation as instructed.

Requirements

Experience Required:

  • Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen hygiene
  • Passion for healthy eating, nutrition, and fitness
  • Strong work ethic, punctuality, and a willingness to learn
  • Ability to work effectively in a team

Responsibilities

As a Commis Chef, you will:

  • Overseeing Operations: Commis Chef assists in the daily operations of the kitchen.
  • Innovation: To work with the Head Chef/Sous Chef to implement new and innovative menu ideas and concepts.
  • Training and Education: To develop and train with the Head Chef/Sous to improve culinary skills and abilities.
  • Safety Regulations: All safety regulations must be followed by the Commis Chef to ensure employee safety and restaurant cleanliness. All HACCP, Health & Safety, Kitchen & food safety paperwork must be maintained to the highest standards.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Commis chefs ensure customer satisfaction and seek feedback on menu items.
  • Maintaining Quality: To be successful, a commis chef must continually check the quality of the culinary product.
  • Administrative Duties: To complete all kitchen paperwork, health & safety and food safety documentation as instructed by the head chef/sous chef.
