A leading elderly care provider in Edenbridge seeks a Commis Chef to assist in food preparation and cater to residents' dietary needs. The role requires a catering qualification and at least 1 year of experience. You will support the culinary team while ensuring high standards of service and resident dignity. This is a full-time, permanent position offering £12.80 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Hold a catering qualification such as City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ.
  • Hold a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Minimum of 1 year catering experience.
  • Demonstrate compassion and commitment to high-quality culinary services.
  • Adaptable and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Chef de Partie in preparing food and basic cooking tasks.
  • Support chefs to deliver catering services ensuring resident dignity and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Chef de Partie in preparing food and performing basic cooking tasks across the kitchen areas (vegetables, fish, meat, sauces).
  • Support all chefs to manage and deliver catering services throughout the home, ensuring resident choice, dignity, confidentiality, and safety.
  • Participate in meetings with residents and Heads of Departments to discuss catering functions and address special dietary needs or cultural preferences.
  • Prepare nutritional food and beverages to a high standard and in accordance with agreed mealtimes.
  • Prepare special diet meals as required.
Qualifications and skills
  • Hold a catering qualification such as City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ or equivalent.
  • Hold a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Minimum of 1 year catering experience.
