Job description

Location of Roles: South West, South East and Midlands.

Team: Team of 4: 1x Solar Installation Team Leader - 2x Solar Installers - 1x Trainee Solar Installer/Labourer.

About Us: Our Client is one of the UK's leading commercial and industrial rooftop solar installers, providing trusted solar and renewable energy solutions. We help businesses reduce energy costs, lower carbon emissions, and become more resilient.

Contracted Hours: 42.5 hours per week.

Purpose of Role: Work independently to deliver standard solar PV installations to required safety, quality, and efficiency standards.

Experience Requirements
  • 1-2 years' experience across various solar PV systems installations preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Reliable, motivated, and a strong team player.
  • Must be a driver with own vehicle.
  • Confident working at height.
  • Flexible working nationally with regular overnight stays (~4 nights/week, expensed).
Technical Skills & Competencies
  • Competent in panel layout, string design, and interpreting technical drawings, roof plans, and cable routing diagrams.
  • Understanding of mounting kit types (flat, trapezoidal steel, pitched roofs).
  • Able to square roofs, locate inverters, and plan DC cable routes.
  • Skilled in solar panel installation, fault finding (dead strings, stringing issues, DC underperformance).
  • Competent in MC4 crimping, DC cable termination, and multimeter use.
  • Understanding of fire safety requirements.
Safety & Compliance
  • Understand CPP/RAMS and relevant risks.
  • Able to conduct Dynamic Risk Assessments.
  • Knowledge of basic isolation procedures.
  • Safe manual handling of solar modules and awkward loads.
Teamwork & Communication
  • Support Team Leader and follow guidance.
  • Take delegated tasks when required.
  • Communicate confidently with colleagues and escalate issues as needed.
Mandatory Training & Certifications
  • IPAF, CSCS + Working at Height, Manual Handling, Asbestos Awareness, Harness Training, First Aid (as required).
  • Completion of all Elevate Tier 1 modules & competency sign-off.
Responsibilities
  • Carry out independent PV installations.
  • Conduct site readiness checks and verify materials.
  • Ensure quality workmanship and adherence to standards.
  • Mentor Tier 1 installers.
  • Report issues promptly to Team Leader.
