Job description

My client has an amazing opportunity for an experienced Senior Solicitor / CILEX for the role of Senior Associate / Salaried Partner (depending upon experience) with a minimum of 8 years+; PQE to join an established Commercial team in Birmingham city centre to work on a varied case load covering all aspects of commercial matters.

This is a senior role for someone who wants to grow and develop a department. The ideal candidate will not only be an excellent lawyer but will have the drive to develop the team and take it forward in respect of undertaking the current work, business development and the supervision and the development of the junior members of the team.

The role is based in the firm’s Birmingham City centre office but there will be a requirement for the candidate to spend some time in the firm’s other offices from time to time to maintain the cohesiveness with the Commercial Property Team.

The work

all aspects of commercial property transactions to include but not limited to :

  • Draft, negotiate and complete commercial leases, licences to occupy, agreements for lease, and related documentation;
Key Responsibilities
  • Acting for SME’s and other business owners in the purchase and sale of commercial property;
  • Acting for bridging lenders and other lenders in securing property loans and where necessary negotiating documentation;
  • Acting for Receivers in property sales;
  • Acting for Liquidators / Administrators in property transactions arising out of an insolvency or MVL;
  • Working along side the corporate team and advise on and manage the property aspects of corporate transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, share purchases, mergers, and restructuring..
  • Conduct property due diligence for corporate transactions, including reviewing and reporting on title, leases, searches, and replies to enquiries.
  • Provide strategic advice on freehold and leasehold acquisitions and disposals in the context of corporate deals.
  • Liaise with corporate team to coordinate seamless integration of property work into wider transactional work.
  • Advise on property finance matters, including reviewing and reporting on security over land
  • Drafting and negotiating contracts in respect of commercial property transactions.
  • Drafting auction packs.
  • Supervising / Managing: Supervising and Managing junior member of the commercial property team to include undertaking monthly supervision meetings.
  • Client management : Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients.
  • Client Care : have strong client care skills and maintain excellent file management.
  • Business development : Develop new contacts and assist in growing the existing client base for the commercial property department and be available to attend marketing events held on behalf of the firm and third parties.
  • Strategy : Be involved in one of the firm’s strategy groups to assist in driving the firm forward.
  • Legal 500 : As the firm is a Legal 500 firm the candidate will also be required to put together each year a submission to the Legal 500 for the Commercial Property Team.
