Commercial Project Engineer
We are looking for a proactive and organised Commercial Project Engineer to join a technical and commercial team supporting both UK and global operations. This role combines commercial, project management, and customer-facing responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Commercial Tasks
- Assist with controlling part prices and tooling costs.
- Support preparation of local cost models and quotes for prototypes and mass production.
- Help maintain customer portals accurately and manage sales-related data.
- Support the sales planning process in line with business requirements.
- Support Global Sales team members with contract reviews and negotiations, ensuring data is prepared and presented professionally.
- Program/Project Management Tasks
- Organise initial kick-off meetings.
- Support project meetings and documentation.
- Track project timelines and milestones.
- Prepare the birth certificate for further release.
- Ensure that customer release drawings are documented correctly.
- Communication & Coordination
- Act as a key point of contact for customers and customer documentation.
- Coordinate regularly with internal departments (e.g., UK plant & Global Sales) to ensure project alignment.
- Regularly engage in on-site customer visits to build relationships and understand technical and commercial needs.
- Participate in off-site customer visits as required.
- Change Management
- Support the initiation and tracking of customer change requests.
- Support customer release and audit activities.
Candidate Requirements
- Positive “can-do” attitude and flexible approach to business and customer needs.
- Experience in a customer-facing role within technical commercial sales support, engineering, program management, or business administration (automotive experience advantageous).
- IT competent; familiarity with SAP, CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) or equivalent is highly beneficial.
- Strong communication, presentation, and organisational skills.
- Able to work collaboratively and independently as required.
- Willingness to travel occasionally within the UK or to other group locations (e.g., Germany).
Additional Information
- Full-time UK-based role (37 hrs/week: Mon-Thurs 08:00-16:30, Fri 08:00-13:00).
- Hybrid working option available (up to 2 days WFH per week).
