Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) manages the UK’s largest light rail network and has recently taken local control of bus services, including 10 franchise depots. Join us as we deliver major projects and drive continuous improvement across Bus, Metrolink, and Franchise Assets.

Your Role

We’re seeking three Franchise Commercial Officers within our Franchise Commercial directorate to contribute to the success of our contracts across Bus, Metrolink and Franchise Assets.

You’ll support our Commercial Leads in managing contracts throughout their lifecycle. You will be a vital link between TfGM and transport operators, ensuring compliance, managing contract changes, and supporting performance monitoring. Your work will help us deliver value for money, develop new ways of working, and ensure effective investment in Greater Manchester’s transport network.

Who are we?

You’ll join the Franchise Commercial directorate within Finance, Commercial & Corporate Services, a team dedicated to delivering high-quality, value-driven services for the people of Greater Manchester. We offer a supportive environment with opportunities for professional growth, community impact, and the chance to work on projects that shape the region’s future!

What you’ll bring

What you do and how you do it is important – whatever type of role you work in at TfGM – and even small behaviours and actions can have a really big impact. At TfGM, our behaviours bring to life our values of Deliver, Care and Adapt.

We’re looking for someone with strong analytical and numerical skills, who is comfortable working with data to inform decisions. You will ideally have some experience in commercial or contract administration, but more important is your aptitude to learn, your attention to detail, and your ability to work collaboratively in a team. If you’re proactive, IT literate, and eager to develop your commercial skills, we want to hear from you!

What we can offer you

These are permanent roles, with a salary of £40,650 - £45,107

At TfGM we encourage candidates to discuss flexible working options at any stage of the recruitment process. We are happy to #talkflexibleworking to help colleagues maintain a healthy work life balance.

Our benefits
  • Generous annual leave starting at 28 days (plus bank holidays), increasing with service, with options to buy more.
  • Free travel on buses across Greater Manchester, plus rail or Metrolink travel to and from work.
  • Local Government defined pension scheme with life cover of 3x salary and options to boost your contributions.
  • Enhanced family-friendly leave policies, including those supporting fertility treatment, alongside flexible and hybrid working and a special leave policy to support a range of unexpected events. Please note that qualification criteria may apply, including a requirement to have been employed with the organisation for a minimum specified period of time.
