Commercial Manager / Senior Manager (Private Wire PPAs)

Leap29 are recruiting on behalf of a Boutique type Developer business who specialise within the Private Wire sector across the UK & Europe. They specialise on offsite private-wire solar projects that deliver clean reliable power directly to industrial power users (IPUs). Their model provides customers with long-term price stability enhanced energy security and meaningful carbon reduction while challenging the traditional dynamics of energy supply.

Supported by a multi-billion-euro asset manager with extensive renewable energy experience our client are scaling rapidly with a proven and profitable business model.

The Role

We are looking for a commercially minded strategic Commercial Manager / Senior Manager to drive private-wire PPA origination in the UK and internationally. You will lead business development manage senior client relationships negotiate Power Purchase Agreements and help shape and strengthen a high-performing commercial function.

This is a high impact high-visibility position suited to someone who excels in both strategic planning and hands on execution. If you thrive on autonomy responsibility and influencing market direction and you know how to close deals this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Market Leadership
  • Shape and influence the commercial strategy in the UK and across the Group working closely with the CEO and leadership team
  • Conduct market and sector analysis identifying high-value opportunities and defining customer segments
  • Partner with project and land teams to ensure site selection aligns with commercial priorities
Business Development & Sales
  • Source qualify and prioritise leads using our CRM and through proactive outreach in key sectors
  • Lead the full sales cycle from first engagement to contract signature targeting senior decision-makers at industrial businesses
  • Create tailored proposals articulate value propositions and manage commercial negotiations through to PPA execution
Stakeholder Management & Team Leadership
  • Serve as the primary relationship owner throughout the sales and project lifecycle
  • Work cross-functionally with development legal finance and technical teams
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders including advisors grid operators and regulators
  • Mentor and guide junior commercial team members leveraging their capabilities to accelerate deal flow
Your Profile
  • Demonstrated business development or sales experience within renewable energy or the power sector
  • Strong understanding of UK and ideally some international energy regulation revenue models and contracting frameworks (especially PPAs)
  • Ability to interpret commercial technical and regulatory information to support investment decisions
  • Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
  • Entrepreneurial proactive and strategic in approach
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced international and agile setting
  • Committed to continuous improvement and data-driven performance optimisation
Nice to Have
  • Experience working with IPPs utilities or industrial energy buyers
  • Knowledge of behind-the-meter systems battery storage or onshore wind
  • Exposure to market-entry or new-market development initiatives
