Join a Major UK Contractor Delivering Complex Environmental & Enabling Works Nationwide

This is a standout opportunity to join a leading contractor specialising in environmental remediation, soil and groundwater treatment, earthworks and enabling works on some of the UK's most technical and high-impact projects.

Operating across major regeneration schemes, industrial decommissioning, brownfield redevelopment and large-scale infrastructure, this contractor is known for delivering challenging projects with a strong focus on technical excellence, sustainability and industry-leading standards.

As the business continues to scale, they are now seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to take ownership of commercial strategy, risk, forecasting and contract performance across a diverse portfolio of high-value environmental engineering projects.

For a driven commercial professional, this role offers long-term stability, autonomy and the chance to directly influence the success of nationally significant schemes.

The Role

As a Commercial Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial and contractual success of complex remediation and enabling works projects. You will work closely with contract managers, project teams and senior leadership to drive commercial performance across the full project lifecycle.

You will:
  • Lead the drafting, negotiation and administration of contracts with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Oversee project budgets, cashflow, forecasting and cost control measures.
  • Ensure accurate commercial reporting, including leading monthly CVR meetings.
  • Maximise recovery of variations and compensation events.
  • Identify commercial risks and develop proactive mitigation strategies.
  • Provide pricing input and commercial leadership for tender submissions.
  • Manage insurance, indemnities and contractual liabilities.
  • Support project teams from pre-construction through to final accounts and closeout.
  • Liaise with clients, regulators and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment across programme, cost and contract deliverables.

This role is instrumental in supporting the delivery of technically demanding projects involving contaminated land remediation, enabling works, complex earthworks and environmental compliance activities.

What You Need
Essential:
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or similar.
  • 5-7 years' experience in a commercial or project management capacity within remediation, earthworks, civil engineering, environmental contracting or groundworks.
  • Strong understanding of environmental legislation, remediation processes and earthworks methodologies.
  • Proven experience in contract negotiations, financial oversight and commercial risk analysis.
  • Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency across project management, cost control and reporting tools.
Desirable:
  • Professional accreditations (MRICS, PMP or equivalent).
  • Experience with public-sector funded remediation or environmental programmes.
  • Familiarity with NEC, JCT or FIDIC forms of contract.

  • Hybrid working and flexibility across regional offices & UK-wide project sites
  • A collaborative environment where commercial leadership is truly valued
  • Opportunities for professional development, chartership support and progression into senior leadership
