Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor within a contractor-side environment.
  • Professional membership with RICS or ICES preferred or in progress.
  • Ability to influence at all levels.

Overview

Commercial Manager – Birmingham | 12 months contract | £450-550 per day | Outside of IR35

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial Manager to join a leading organisation within the rail infrastructure sector. You’ll play a pivotal role in delivering high-profile projects, providing commercial and contractual support across all stages of the project lifecycle.

Working as part of a collaborative and forward-thinking team, you’ll ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest commercial standards.

About You

We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a dynamic project environment. You will bring:

  • Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor within a contractor-side environment (ideally rail, construction, or engineering).
  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline (professional membership with RICS or ICES preferred or in progress).
  • Strong capability in cost forecasting, change management, and subcontract administration.
  • Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Experience managing both direct labour and subcontract costs.
  • The ability to work independently under pressure and deliver results to tight deadlines.
