Job description
Commercial Litigation Solicitor | 2+ | Brighton

A leading regional practice is looking to appoint a Dispute Resolution Solicitor to its Brighton office. This is a key hire for a team recognised for its commercial approach, strong technical capability, and the way it balances high-quality litigation work with a collaborative, people-first culture.

The Brighton team forms part of a wider regional disputes group working across several offices but operating as one close, well-connected unit. You'll be joining a supportive environment with steady workflows, genuine visibility on client matters, and regular access to experienced partners who remain hands‑on with strategy and case direction.

What You'll Be Doing
Commercial and contractual disputes

Handling a broad mix of breach of contract claims, shareholder issues, supply chain disagreements, misrepresentation matters, and other business‑critical disputes where clarity, structure and commercial judgement are essential.

Banking and finance litigation

Supporting cases involving enforcement, lending disputes, guarantees, and recovery actions, often working alongside colleagues in the wider commercial and corporate teams.

Professional negligence

Acting for clients bringing or defending claims relating to solicitors, surveyors, accountants or other professionals, developing an understanding of the regulatory and technical nuances these cases require.

Contentious insolvency and related claims

Assisting with director claims, preference transactions, misfeasance allegations and other insolvency-related litigation, often involving tight deadlines and multidisciplinary input.

About You

You'll be a Solicitor with a minimum of two years' experience in dispute resolution, ideally with exposure to both commercial litigation and professional negligence work.

You'll have a solid understanding of contractual and tortious principles, good working knowledge of the CPR, and the ability to identify the commercial implications of each strategic decision.

Equally important is your approach: someone who is pragmatic, calm under pressure, and confident communicating with clients at all levels. You'll value teamwork, enjoy sharing ideas with colleagues, and appreciate a culture where people support each other rather than operate in silos.

What's on Offer

You’ll be joining a team with a strong regional reputation and the workload to match. The Brighton disputes group benefits from:

  • Consistent, high-quality instructions from corporates, financial institutions, insolvency practitioners, professionals, and private clients
  • Direct involvement in complex disputes, with partners who remain accessible and engaged
  • Early responsibility on files, allowing you to develop confidence in drafting, negotiation and client management
  • A genuinely supportive culture, underpinned by excellent feedback in staff surveys and strong internal mentoring
  • Structured development pathways, including upcoming internal mentoring programmes designed to support progression to senior associate and partnership
The Firm

This is a well-established, award-winning regional firm with a strong presence across London and the South East. Known for its commerciality and technical rigour, it provides a credible alternative to much larger City practices while maintaining a far more balanced and friendly working culture.

The dispute resolution team has a strong track record in high-value and complex litigation, often acting in High Court matters against major national firms.

The firm places emphasis on people. Recent internal surveys highlight exceptional satisfaction, strong work-life balance, and confidence in firm leadership, underpinned by Investors in People Gold accreditation and active initiatives around inclusion, gender balance and career progression.
