The Role

Looking to accelerate your litigation career and step into a role that genuinely sets you apart? This is an exceptional opportunity to join a highly respected international firm with one of the UK's strongest Commercial Litigation practices. The Edinburgh team is seeking a talented Commercial Litigation Associate (3+ PQE) to play a key role in developing the Scottish disputes offering, providing a platform, visibility and support to outpace your peers at this level. You'll work closely with highly regarded Partners and senior litigators, gaining hands‑on involvement with major national and international clients. Expect exposure to high‑value, strategically significant disputes through the wider national team, UK‑wide jurisdictions. This role is truly future‑facing. You'll handle complex and varied commercial litigation, build expertise across multiple sectors, and take on meaningful early responsibility, including client management, strategic input and business development. With a close‑knit Scottish team backed by the resources of a large national disputes group, you'll benefit from a supportive environment, exceptional work quality and a clear pathway to progression. The Work
  • Managing a diverse caseload of commercial disputes, including breach of contract, supply chain issues, misrepresentation, fraud, and director duties
  • Acting in both the Sheriff Court and Court of Session, with opportunities to assist on UK-wide litigation
  • Handling disputes across key sectors such as energy, financial services, technology, transport, retail, and public services
  • Drafting pleadings, analyses, opinions, strategies and high-quality client communications
  • Working closely with senior lawyers on complex, high-value matters
  • Playing a meaningful role in client development, including training sessions, relationship building and local market engagement
  • Contributing to the profile and growth of the Scottish commercial disputes team
  • Ensuring cases progress efficiently while maintaining the highest technical and commercial standards
Your Experience
  • 3+ PQE with strong experience in Commercial Litigation
  • Excellent drafting ability and strong analytical judgement
  • Confidently manage cases autonomously while knowing when to draw on the wider team
  • Strong commercial mindset with the ability to advise clients strategically and pragmatically
  • Comfortable working at a pace and managing multiple deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to nurture client relationships
  • Motivated to contribute to business development and team growth
