Job summary

Pertemps Recruitment Partnership, on behalf of London Borough of Harrow, seeks an experienced Legal Assistant to join HB Public Law in Harrow. The role is temporary for six months with a 36-hour week, hybrid working and occasional travel to client offices, courts and other locations.

You will support a team of lawyers across matters including property, planning, regeneration, contracts and procurement, provide legal research, draft documents, manage caseloads to Lexcel standards, and develop

Qualifications

• Qualified in law or studying toward a recognised qualification.
• Experience in a legal environment may substitute for formal qualifications.
• Knowledge of English law related to property, planning, regeneration, contracts or procurement.
• Knowledge of public law principles in local government.
• Experience managing a legal caseload with appropriate supervision.
• Strong research, drafting and case management skills.
• Evidence of continuing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on commercial matters including property, planning, regeneration, contracts and procurement.
• Provide legal research and support to lawyers and colleagues.
• Manage a significant caseload in line with Lexcel requirements and maintain high standards of client care.
• Draft legal documents, correspondence, pleadings and other relevant documentation.
• Keep clients and colleagues informed of relevant developments in law and policy.
• Use electronic case management systems and Microsoft Office products effectively.
• Undertake legal research and ensure accurate recording of instructions, advice and case information.
• Represent clients at courts, tribunals, panels and external meetings.
