COMMERCIAL GAS ENGINEER

MOBILE ACROSS NORFOLK & SUFFOLK

The Company:

Dodd Group was formed in 1947 in Shropshire and has remained a privately owned family business ever since. With an unrivalled reputation within the building services sector, we offer a comprehensive electrical and mechanical design, installation and maintenance service across many sectors.

Due to continued contract growth, we are now in a position where we find ourselves requiring additional experienced Commercial Gas Engineer for our prestigious FDIS Contract.

The ideal candidate will have a trade background with experience in plumbing, heating and HVAC maintenance services, and an industry recognised qualification (e.g. Gas Qualifications, NVQ Level 3 or formal apprenticeship). It would be a great benefit if the candidate had OFTEC qualifications also but this is not essential.

Main responsibilities of the Gas Engineer
  • To undertake the servicing and maintenance of the Gas boilers systems including reactive repairs, servicing of boilers and other appliances, installations and associated works. All works and servicing to be completed in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions, industry best practice codes, practice, and legislation.
  • To diagnose and repair faults on commercial heating and Hot and cold water plumbing systems including Calorifiers, plate heat exchangers, radiators, valves, pipe work controls, and all other associated elements in an efficient, safe manner and in accordance with company Health and Safety policy, Safe Systems of Work and current regulations.
  • To provide information to allow records to be updated following service and testing and update Gas Safety records using electronic or manual documentation.
  • To be able to complete material request forms to enable the site administration to acquire quotes for stock from authorised suppliers, materials required to undertake works through the approved order system.
  • To take part in the on call system to provide 24/7 emergency cover across our property portfolio.
  • To drive company vehicles in a safe and courteous manner and to ensure that the vehicle is maintained to appropriate standards through the compliance supervisor and fleet office.
  • To complete all relevant training and certifications as required by regulations as and when required.
  • To maintain regular contact with the site supervisor and works site team to obtain instructions and resolve working problems.
  • To record completed works and maintain accurate record of work carried out including measurements and calculations.

Whilst this job description attempts to cover the main duties and responsibilities of the post, it is not exhaustive. The Gas Engineer is therefore expected to undertake any other reasonable duties within their capabilities.
