Commercial Gas Engineer

Contract: Full Time

About Us

Roberts & Prowse is a well-established Mechanical & Electrical Services Contractor based in Swindon, operating across the Home Counties, South West and South East. Following continued growth and project success, we’re looking for an experienced Commercial Gas Engineer to join our expanding team, supporting commercial clients across Oxfordshire and Reading.

The Role

As a Commercial Gas Engineer, you’ll play a key role in delivering high‑quality gas engineering services across a range of commercial environments. You’ll report directly to our Senior Mechanical Contracts Managers and Site Managers, taking responsibility for installations, servicing, maintenance, and reactive repairs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carrying out gas installations as required by the company
  • Conduct servicing and pre‑planned maintenance
  • Carry out reactive call‑outs, attend, diagnose and repair faults
  • Gas leak detection, pressure testing, flue testing, gas appliance servicing, certification, gas purging services
  • Completing all necessary documentation including field service reports, official gas safety certificates as requested by the Senior Mechanical Contracts Managers
  • Meeting all necessary deadlines.
  • Keeping job records, to include any extra works, materials used and any delays incurred
  • Ordering parts in absence of Senior Mechanical Contracts Managers
  • Carrying out all works to a high standard whilst complying with all relevant health and safety standards

About You

To succeed in this role, you will be a fully qualified, time‑served Commercial Gas Engineer with proven experience in commercial building services or construction.

You must hold
  • ACS Commercial & Domestic Gas qualifications including CCN1, COCN1, CDGA1, CIGA1, ICPN1, TPCP1A, CENWAT1, CPA1
  • Full UK driving licence
Desirable
  • CSCS card
  • DBS check
You will also have
  • Strong technical skills and the ability to work to a high standard
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good understanding of drawings and specifications
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to work under pressure
