Job description

We challenge and innovate to connect people, businesses, and communities across the world. Delighting our customers and earning their loyalty drive us, and we experiment, learn fast and get it done, together. With us, you can be truly yourself and belong, share inspiration, embrace new opportunities, thrive, and make a real difference. Vodafone is shaping the future of connectivity and offering opportunities to grow your career while balancing work and life, helping you belong and make a real impact.

Responsibilities
  • A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a high calibre finance professional keen to join Group Commercial Finance for a 12-month project placement in an acutely commercial capacity. Assigned to the Group Services Commercialisation programme (PXQ), this role offers a unique chance to transform structured operations into product-focused business units that drive internal and external value.
  • Service Catalogue Definition: Draw upon your commercial acumen and robust grasp of core business fundamentals to support commercial product leads in productising existing Group services. Function as a leader in shifting the mindset away from a Group Cost Centre culture towards genuine business owner and supplier of products and services.
  • End-to-End Cost Base Formulation: Apply forensic analytical skills to decipher fully loaded costs for assigned products, spanning multiple organisational levels and dependencies, and reconcile costs to historical recharge methodologies with detailed variance analysis.
  • Cost Base Deep Dives: Drive understanding of all cost components from headcount to external spend, across all functions, technologies, and cost classes, to achieve a total view of each product cost base.
  • Commercial Pricing Model Development: Develop pricing models that combine service catalogue components, cost base, and cost behaviours, compatible with open market pricing dynamics, OPCO service demand, and transfer pricing principles, and operable across stakeholders including customer, commercial, finance, tax.
  • Benchmark Analysis: Work with commercial teams to identify market alternatives for new service lines and inform product strategy on scope, quality, and efficiency.
  • Critical Financial Tooling: Lead advancements in core financial tooling, budgeting, control, reporting, and product performance from a product-facing perspective rather than traditional group operations.
  • Operationalisation: Parallel run the commercialisation programme against traditional recharge methodologies with a planned go-live in 2026, taking ownership of assigned products and ensuring smooth transition amid challenges.
Qualifications
  • Qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA) preferred, with university education in a quantitative field such as mathematics, economics, accounting, or finance.
  • Excellent organisational skills to manage a substantial, multi-task programme with complex deadlines.
  • Outstanding Excel skills with complex formulas; VBA proficiency a significant plus.
  • Strong technical financial modelling skills, capable of multivariate models and scenario analysis with clear presentation of results.
  • Pro-active, can-do attitude with a collaborative approach and focus on high-quality outcomes.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn to support allocated function and products and guide decision making.
  • Commercial acumen and an enterprising spirit; ability to shift from cost centre thinking to a product-minded approach.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders across Tax, Reporting, Legal, Commercial, Technology, HR, and more.
  • Comfort with both structured and unstructured environments and ability to navigate uncertainty and ambiguity.
