Job summary

Avove is seeking a finance leader for its Power Account, reporting to the Head of Commercial Finance. You’ll own financial management, performance reporting, and commercial support across NPG and SPEN contracts, driving value and clear insights for stakeholders.

Lead a high-performing finance team, ensure robust controls, coordinate audits, and partner with operations to optimise delivery and commercial outcomes.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with experience in finance/accounting roles.
• Experience in project accounting and financial reporting.
• Experience in construction/utilities/infrastructure or other project-based industries.
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards and statutory reporting.
• Proficient with ERP systems and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Lead financial management and reporting of projects across NPG and SPEN contracts.
• Manage commercial data and translate into financial reporting and P&L performance.
• Ensure contractual terms, applications, and revenue recovery processes are compliant.
• Deliver project performance reporting, highlighting risks, opportunities, and financial trends.
• Maintain robust financial controls, reconciliations, and accounting records.
• Build relationships with operational/commercial teams to support delivery.
• Drive process improvements and champion continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead, develop, and support a finance team and coordinate audits.

Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to join Avove’s Power Account in a key finance position, providing financial leadership and support across our Northern Powergrid (NPG) and SP Energy Networks (SPEN) contracts. You will play a key role in ensuring strong financial performance across one of Avove’s largest and most strategically important business areas.

Reporting directly to the Head of Commercial Finance you will be responsible for the financial management, performance monitoring, and commercial support of a major contract, helping to drive business performance and deliver valuable insights to key stakeholders.

What Will Your Day Look Like…

• Lead the financial management and reporting of projects across NPG and SPEN contracts.
• Manage commercial data and ensure accurate translation into financial reporting and P&L performance.
• Ensure contractual terms, applications, and revenue recovery processes are fully compliant and accurately managed.
• Deliver insightful project performance reporting, highlighting risks, opportunities, and key financial trends.
• Maintain robust financial controls, reconciliations, and accurate accounting records.
• Build strong relationships with operational and commercial teams to support successful project delivery.
• Drive process improvements, embed best practice, and champion continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead, develop, and support a high-performing finance team, while coordinating internal and external audits.

About You…

• Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA or ACA).
• Proven experience in finance/accounting roles within a fast-paced environment.
• Strong background in project accounting and financial reporting.
• Experience within construction, utilities, infrastructure, or other project-based industries.
• Sound knowledge of accounting standards, statutory regulations, and reporting requirements.
• Strong systems knowledge, including ERP platforms and advanced Excel skills.
• Commercially astute with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated success in driving process improvements and developing high-performing teams.
