About the Opportunity

Our client, a leading national law firm, is seeking a talented commercial contracts lawyer to join their high-performing Commercial Contracts team in Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity to work on sophisticated, market-leading transactions for FTSE 100 clients and their equivalents across multiple sectors.

The role offers exposure to a diverse range of commercial matters spanning retail & consumer, sports, tech, financial services, advanced manufacturing, aviation, digital, and health sectors.

The Role

As an Associate in this team, you will advise clients on the complete lifecycle of commercial arrangements, from preparation through to negotiation and ongoing management. Your work will include both customer-side and supplier-side contract matters.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Taking ownership of your own matters with strong project management
  • Collaborating with partners and managing associates on complex transactions
  • Advising on commercial contracts, IT, data protection, and intellectual property matters
  • Delivering pragmatic, tailored advice to sophisticated clientsContributing to IT outsourcing, business process outsourcing, facilities management, logistics, SaaS, cloud arrangements, and IP protection matters

This is a busy, cohesive team with excellent prospects for career development and secondment opportunities.

About You
  • 2-5 years PQE in a comparable practice or in-house environment
  • Strong technical, project management, and analytical skills
  • A commercial mindset with a solutions-based approach
  • Demonstrated ability to provide pragmatic, robust advice
  • Strong client management skills and a track record of financial performance
  • Experience (or keen interest) in IP and IT transactions including software licensing, SaaS, hardware purchase, and IT managed services
  • A genuine commitment to excellent client service
  • Ambition to take on leading roles in complex, large‑scale transactions

The Commercial team is a national practice with a Tier 1 ranking in Leeds. The Leeds office comprises five partners supported by fee earners, trainees, and embedded paralegals working on national and cross-border transactions.
