Commercial/IT Associate Solicitor | 1+ PQE | Leading International Law Firm | Birmingham/Hybrid

BCL Legal is pleased to be assisting an international and leading UK law firm with the recruitment of an Associate to join its highly regarded Commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated solicitor to join a dynamic and forward‑thinking team, advising on a wide range of commercial and IT contracts for both private and public sector clients.

The Opportunity

The role sits within the Commercial team, providing exposure to a diverse portfolio of work across multiple sectors including automotive, aerospace, retail, food and drink, real estate, life sciences, financial services, healthcare, and telecoms. The team advises on both day‑to‑day commercial matters and large, complex outsourcing projects, giving you the chance to build significant technical expertise and commercial insight.

Recent examples of client work include:

  • Advising on national and international IT and logistics outsourcing projects for major consumer brands
  • Negotiating SaaS and digital platform agreements for regulated and commercial businesses
  • Supporting public sector clients on complex IT procurement, ERP implementations, and outsourcing arrangements
  • Drafting and negotiating a range of commercial contracts, from routine agreements to high‑value, strategic partnerships
Key Responsibilities
  • Drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and advising on commercial and IT contracts across a broad spectrum of sectors
  • Taking instructions, structuring, and advising clients on contractual and commercial risk
  • Managing projects independently or as part of a team, including supervising junior lawyers
  • Supporting business development, including client engagement, writing alerts and articles, participating in tenders, and attending events
  • Liaising with clients and counter‑parties and managing contract administration and billing
About You

We are looking for a qualified solicitor (minimum 1 PQE) with practical experience advising on commercial contracts, ideally including IT, digital, and outsourcing arrangements.
