Job description

Exciting opportunity for an experienced commercial and operations manager to join a leading independent remediation contractor. Due to ongoing success, my client is expanding operations across England and Wales, delivering technically complex and environmentally vital remediation solutions. As part of this growth, they are now seeking a Commercial Remediation Manager to play a central role in converting opportunities into secured work, managing the commercial lifecycle of projects, and ensuring sound financial and contractual governance.

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially astute and environmentally driven individual to help shape the future of a growing and dynamic business.

Company Overview

The organisation delivers integrated environmental services across four key areas:

  • Contaminated land and groundwater remediation
  • Invasive plant species eradication (notably Japanese Knotweed)
  • Hazardous waste treatment and re-classification
  • PFAS remediation technologies and strategies

With a robust pipeline and a reputation for innovation, they offer a platform for long-term progression and strategic influence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead bid and proposal development, from initial opportunity identification through to tender submission, ensuring compelling and commercially viable responses
  • Manage and track tender pipelines, coordinating with technical, operational, and business development teams to meet submission deadlines
  • Support pricing strategies, developing cost models and commercial inputs that reflect both client expectations and internal margin targets
  • Work closely with project teams to prepare, track, and manage invoicing, ensuring timely and accurate billing in line with contractual terms
  • Collaborate with the operations team to ensure project delivery aligns with agreed commercial terms and budgets
  • Build strong relationships with clients, partners, and subcontractors, acting as a key commercial point of contact during pre- and post-award phases
  • Support contract negotiation and risk management processes
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation including bid trackers, cost breakdowns, and commercial reports
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in bid writing, costing tools, and commercial governance
  • Ensure full compliance with legal, environmental, and regulatory obligations within proposals and contracts
Person Specification
  • Proven experience in bid management, tendering, or commercial roles within environmental services, construction, or infrastructure sectors
  • Strong understanding of remediation, contaminated land, or environmental contracting (preferred but not essential)
  • Demonstrated ability to translate technical scope into commercially sound proposals
  • Excellent organisational, writing, and numeracy skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders across departments and project sites
  • Confident using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel essential), with familiarity in CRM, tender portals, or commercial software tools
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel occasionally
What’s on Offer
  • A pivotal commercial role in a growing, mission-driven environmental business
  • Clear progression path toward senior management/Director-level role
  • Access to bid and commercial training, and mentoring from experienced industry professionals
  • Fully expensed company vehicle, laptop, and phone
  • 30 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays), increasing with service
  • Health Cash Plan, Cycle to Work scheme, and access to a staff discount portal
  • Annual salary and performance review

This is a rare opportunity for a commercially focused professional to step into a strategically important role, helping to secure and shape some of the most environmentally critical projects in the UK.
