A local government council in Scotland is seeking a motivated Fleet Management Officer to support its fleet management team. Responsibilities include assisting in policy development, ensuring vehicle compliance, and managing fleet logistics. Candidates should ideally hold a CPC or be willing to obtain one within 6 months. Fleet Services is a key aspect of Council operations, underpinning the delivery of essential services. From passenger services, school transport and waste collection to social care and winter maintenance, the efficiency and reliability of these services hinge on the effective management of the entire fleet.
An exciting opportunity has arisen, and we are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to work within our fleet management team. Supporting the Fleet Management Team Leader this important role will assist in delivering commitments associated with the Fleet Strategy and Fleet Asset Management Plan. The main duties include supporting the development of policies, strategies, and operational procedures in relation to vehicle replacement programme, passenger services, pool cars, vehicle compliance, and vehicle utilisation.
The role requires up-to-date knowledge and experience in developments and initiatives in the field of transportation operations, management, compliance, legislation, and be able to support and ensure compliance with legislation governing the safe operation of vehicles, ensuring the Council operates in accordance with the terms of its operator's licence.
The successful individual will assist in ensuring all elements of the service are undertaken in accordance with appropriate health and safety requirements and handle routine and statutory enquiries including those from Elected Members and the public.
Whilst working as part of the wider fleet team you should additionally be able to work individually to specific deadlines and direction.
A commitment to customer focus, service delivery and responsiveness will be vital as will the ability to commit to our constant efforts to refine, innovate and improve service delivery.
You must have the ability to travel throughout South Lanarkshire. The successful candidate should preferably already hold a Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) or be willing and able to attain one within 6 months of coming into post.
