Location: GL2, Gloucester
Start Date: Flexible (immediate start available)
Hours: Full-time, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday
Contract: Temporary with potential to become permanent
Pay: £13.70 per hour (experience-based)

Experienced SEND Teaching Assistant – Post-16 Provision (MLD & Mental Health Needs)

About the Role

You’ll be joining a specialist post‑16 SEND provision within a highly regarded further education college. This is a hands‑on, proactive role where you’ll:

  • Support learners with MLD and mental health challenges to access the curriculum, develop confidence and life skills, and achieve their goals.
  • Use your experience and initiative to create a calm, structured, and engaging learning environment.
  • Work closely with teaching and therapy teams to tailor support and monitor progress.

This role is ideal for an experienced TA who can adapt quickly, work independently, and contribute ideas from day one.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking an experienced, confident TA who can take initiative and hit the ground running. You should have:

  • Proven experience supporting learners with MLD, autism, or mental health needs (ideally post‑16).
  • A calm, patient, and professional approach under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust quickly with students and colleagues.
  • A genuine commitment to promoting independence and inclusion.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 TA, SEND, Youth Work, or Health & Social Care) are desirable but not essential for the right person with strong practical experience.
