Job summary

Sandwell College is seeking a reliable and hardworking Cleaner to join our Building Services team on a part-time, permanent basis, working 15 hours per week. You will help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors.

Working under the Cleaning Supervisor, you will perform a full range of internal and external cleaning duties, report faults and hazards, and ensure high standards of cleanliness in line with health and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Level 2 qualification in English and Maths (or willingness to work towards).
• Experience in a cleaning role within an education, industrial, or similar environment.
• Ability to carry out physical and manual work.
• Understanding of Health & Safety practices and safe systems of work.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team to meet deadline.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Polite, helpful, and professional approach at all times.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of designated areas to agreed standards.
• Clean classrooms, offices, laboratories, corridors, stairways, entrances, and event spaces.
• Clean internal glass, mirrors, windows, and doors.
• Undertake occasional deep cleaning tasks, including toilets and specialist cleans during holiday periods.
• Report faults, damage, incidents, and potential hazards in line with procedures.
• Follow all Health & Safety regulations, including COSHH requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality at all times and support the College’s aims and objectives.
