Job summary

Accrington & Rossendale College is seeking a part-time Catering Assistant to join the Refectory team. You will help with preparation, cooking and service of meals, creating a welcoming environment and ensuring friendly, efficient service for customers.

The role is based on-site at the Accrington campus with potential travel across sites. Applicants should have GCSEs including Maths/English, basic food hygiene and COSHH knowledge, plus strong customer service skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 GCSEs including Maths and English or equivalent.
• Basic food hygiene certificate.
• Experience in a busy catering operation.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• COSHH and food hygiene understanding.
• Suitability to work with children, young people or vulnerable adults.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation, cooking and service in the Refectory/Canteen.
• Assist with serving meals and portion control.
• Support general kitchen duties and dining area cleanliness.
• Ensure procured food and supplies meet quality standards.
• Follow Health & Safety and COSHH procedures for safety.
