Lloyds Banking Group in Leeds offers a UX Designer Apprentice role blending classroom learning with real-world projects. You’ll design user-centered digital products while pursuing a BSc (Hons) in Digital User Experience with Manchester Metropolitan University.
The program runs four years with hands-on experience and sponsorship for ongoing education. You’ll work on live projects from day one, collaborating with designers, product teams and stakeholders to turn user needs into strong design
When it comes to shaping how one of the UK’s largest organisations works, traditional HR can only take us so far. We need data that leaves no room for guesswork. Technology that keeps people and processes connected. And strategy that’s born out of insight. Exactly what our People & Places teams do every single day.
The People Experience & Platform team takes that further – bringing data, design and technology all under one roof to deliver an experience that touches 80,000 colleagues. And as a UX Designer Apprentice, you’ll be right where this magic happens. You’ll get to decide how work works across hiring, onboarding and performance – all while you learn how to improve day-to-day functions for those around you. Sounds like a plan?
This is four years of blending classroom learning with professional experience. And while your work may start in the product and experience-led team, its impact will be felt everywhere.
At the same time, you’ll also be working towards a fully funded BSc (Hons) in Digital User Experience (UX) with our learning partner, Manchester Metropolitan University. Throughout it all, you can expect to:
You’ll spend most of your time building real experience on the job, with dedicated blocks of learning at university throughout the year.
What happens in the classroom doesn’t stay in the classroom. You’ll build the digital experience skills that make work better, as you learn how to:
And whatever you do, you’ll do it with the backing of the wider apprenticeship and Next Generation Talent community. That means having access to a central learning journey, networking opportunities and experiences that go beyond the usual.

An additional requirement for the apprenticeship position is that you must currently possess a valid Right to Work in the UK. Your visa end date must extend beyond the duration of the apprenticeship programme, which will last up to five years.
Due to Home Office requirements regarding Skilled Workers, we’re unable to accept applications for visa sponsorship for our apprenticeship roles as the proposed salary for the role does not meet the minimum threshold – if this situation applies to you, please consider looking for other vacancies which may be more suitable.
This apprenticeship is based in Leeds and you will be expected to work from your main office location throughout the programme. While our hybrid working policy requires office attendance at least two days per week (40% for full‑time colleagues), apprentices are expected to be in the office most days during the initial settling‑in period.
If your commute exceeds 1.5 hours, we strongly recommend relocating closer to the office to ensure consistent attendance in line with contractual and hybrid working expectations.
You will join us on a fixed apprenticeship salary. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will be re‑graded, with your pay range consistent with the job family for your business area.
We also offer a wide-ranging benefits package, which includes:
Our ambition is to be the leading UK business for diversity, equity and inclusion supporting our customers, colleagues and communities and we’re committed to creating an environment in which everyone can thrive, learn and develop.

We offer reasonable workplace adjustments for colleagues with disabilities, including flexibility in office attendance, location and working patterns. And, as a Disability Confident Leader, we guarantee interviews for a fair and proportionate number of applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the role with a disability, long‑term health or neurodivergent condition through the Disability Confident Scheme.
We provide reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process to reduce or remove barriers. Just let us know what you need.
