Job summary

A local community project in Belfast is seeking a Chef, Barista & Deli counter staff to work in their kitchen and coffee shop. You will be responsible for preparing meals, creating menus, and performing barista duties. Ideal candidates should possess teamwork skills, good communication, and kitchen experience. This position offers flexible hours with a maximum of 25 hours per week.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the kitchen for the day’s schedule.

Job description

THE EMPLOYER IS: CITY LIFE PROJECTS. The successful applicant will work in our kitchen and coffee shop at the CityLife Centre as a Chef, Barista & Deli counter staff. Learning to cook breakfast options (fry and omelettes etc) and create various lunch options (daily specials, chicken curry, roast dinners etc). The successful applicant will undertake a range of training courses, including Health and Safety in the Workplace and Food Hygiene Awareness. They will work within a structured team environment, developing new skills and gaining valuable experience in a busy kitchen setting.

Responsibilities
  • Kitchen prep: Switching on all appliances and preparing the kitchen for the schedule ahead.
  • Menu creation: Creating new ideas for the dinner menu and daily specials.
  • Cooking breakfast, lunch, daily specials and desserts.
  • Deli counter and barista duties such as making specialty coffees and sandwiches.
  • Cleaning the kitchen at the end of service.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Work well within a team environment.
  • Good communications skills.
  • Ability to follow directions from the head chef.
  • Experience working in a kitchen environment is desirable.

Working Hours and Schedule

Standard Hours: up to 25 hours per week. Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach. Additional Hours: The employer may offer extra hours depending on availability. This should be discussed directly with the employer before starting employment. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer.
