Job summary

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS seeks a Speech and Language Therapist to lead specialist assessment and management for deafness and related communication needs. You will contribute to cochlear implant pathways and deliver both individual and group interventions.

Join a multidisciplinary team, supervise junior staff, and participate in governance, CPD and service development to maintain high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Speech and Language Therapist (Bachelor level) with registration.
  • Postgraduate training up to master’s level advantageous.
  • Experience in deafness and audiology settings preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide highly specialist assessment, differential diagnosis and management for children and adults with deafness and additional communication needs.
  • Interpret complex clinical and audiological information to inform treatment planning.
  • Contribute to cochlear implant candidacy decisions and ongoing pathway management.
  • Communicate complex and sensitive information to patients and families, adapting communication methods as required.
  • Deliver specialist interventions and support effective use of cochlear implant technology.
  • Monitor outcomes and signpost appropriately.
  • Supervise and develop junior staff and clinical assistants.
  • Work with partners to ensure coordinated care and provide accessible information.
