Job description

Overall Purpose

We are looking for a CNS/ATM Safety Assurance Engineer to join our Air Traffic Management team in Singapore and support the delivery of safety-critical aviation projects across the Asia-Pacific region.

The role will primarily support Egis' consultancy assignments for the Civil Aviation Authorities in the Asia-Pacific region in relation to the implementation of new Air Traffic Management (ATM) systems, as well asassociated Communication, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) systems. The successful candidate will provide independent safety engineering and assurance support throughout the systems lifecycle, from requirements and design through integration, transition, operational acceptance and subsequent change.

The position combines hands-on safety analysis, client-facing workshops facilitation, supplier documentation review and safety-case development. It will also act as a regional safety subject matter expert for Egis ATM projects and bids across APAC, including airspace design, ATM system replacement, air traffic control towers and centres, GBAS, integrated tower systems and other CNS/ATM critical changes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and conduct safety management, system safety engineering and software safety assurance activities for Civil Aviation Authorities CNS/ATM systems in accordance with local and regional requirements, ICAO provisions, recognized RTCA/EUROCAE guidance and international good practices.
  • Develop, maintain and review safety plans, safety strategies, safety arguments, safety cases, hazard logs, assumptions, safety requirements, recommendations, compliance evidence and outstanding actions throughout the projects lifecycle.
  • Plan, facilitate and document multidisciplinary safety workshops, including SCARS, HAZID, functional hazard assessment, preliminary system safety assessment and system safety assessment activities.
  • Perform or review hazard identification and risk assessment activities using appropriate techniques, including functional failure analysis, FMEA/FMECA, fault tree analysis, common-mode analysis, bow-tie analysis and Goal Structuring Notation (GSN).
  • Review supplier safety plans, analyses, hazard logs, software assurance evidence, safety case reports and supporting lifecycle documentation; identify gaps, inconsistencies, unsubstantiated claims and actions required for acceptance.
  • Assess the adequacy, traceability and verification of safety objectives, safety requirements, mitigations and residual risks across system, subsystem, software, hardware, human, procedural and operational interfaces.
  • Support Civil Aviation Authorities safety governance, System Safety Working Groups, reviews, audits, assurance gates, regulatory engagement and operational acceptance activities.
  • Coordinate safety interfaces with systems engineering, operations, human factors, cybersecurity, quality assurance, software, hardware, integration, verification and validation, transition, training and maintenance teams.
  • Provide safety-focused recommendations on operational technologies, resilient and safety-critical architectures, systems integration, network management, performance monitoring and ATM software development.
  • Advise on emerging ATM concepts and data-centric operations, including FF-ICE, trajectory-based operations, SWIM and associated operational, technical and safety implications.
  • Support Egis ATM projects across APAC as the regional safety specialist, adapting the safety approach to the system, operational environment, regulatory context and project lifecycle.
  • Contribute to bids and business development by defining safety work packages, methodologies, assumptions, deliverables, effort estimates, risks and technical proposal content.
  • Prepare clear, concise and defensible technical reports, presentations and client recommendations, and contribute to knowledge sharing and capability development within the APAC ATM team.
Education and Training
