Job summary

Drew Forsyth & Co is a family-owned furniture manufacturer in the UK, seeking a Wood Machinist to join the production team. You will set tools, load and run CNC programs, and ensure quality across a 38.5-hour, 4-day week from Monday to Thursday.

The ideal candidate has 2–3+ years of wood machining experience, can operate CNC machines independently, and pays close attention to dimensional accuracy while maintaining a tidy, safe work area. The role offers long-term security and training.

Qualifications

• 2–3+ years' wood machining experience.
• Experience running a CNC machine independently during a production shift.
• Confidence setting tools and changing cutters.
• Good understanding of quality and dimensional accuracy.
• Reliable and organised approach to your work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a wider production team.

Responsibilities

• Setting tools and changing cutters.
• Loading and running CNC programs.
• Operating machinery throughout the production shift.
• Checking the quality and accuracy of machined components.
• Identifying and reporting any machining or quality issues.
• Carrying out basic machine maintenance.
• Keeping your machine and surrounding work area organised, clean and productive.
• Working with the wider production team to keep work moving through the factory.
• Learning additional machinery and production processes as your experience develops.
• Getting involved in continuous improvement activities.
