Job summary

A precision engineering company in Castleford is looking for an experienced CNC Turner / Programmer to join their manufacturing team. You will be responsible for programming and operating multi-axis CNC lathes, producing high-quality components. Ideal candidates have experience with Fanuc controls and can read complex engineering drawings. Competitive hourly rate of £18.00 plus shift allowance available.

Overview

CNC Turner / Programmer – We are representing a precision engineering business involved in project-based, special-purpose build environments. Due to increased demand across ongoing technical programmes, a position is now available for an experienced CNC Turner / Programmer to join a multi-disciplinary manufacturing team producing tight-tolerance components for complex mechanical assemblies.

Responsibilities
  • Programming, setting and operating CNC lathes (multi-axis).
  • Producing precision-turned components to tight engineering tolerances.
  • Using micrometres, bore gauges and callipers for in-process inspection.
  • Adjusting tooling, offsets and machining parameters to maintain accuracy.
  • Interpreting technical drawings, including GD&T.
  • Working closely with engineering and quality across bespoke build projects.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised work area.
Shift Pattern & Pay

Double Day Shift: 6:00-14:00 / 14:00-22:00 (weekly rotation)

Rate: £18.00 per hour + shift allowance

Overtime and additional benefits available.

Ideal Background
  • Experience programming and setting multi-axis CNC lathes.
  • Confident using Fanuc controls.
  • Knowledge of Fusion360 would be ideal but not essential.
  • Able to read complex engineering drawings and follow controlled processes.
  • Familiar with one-off or low-volume precision machining environments.
  • Manual lathe or conventional machining knowledge beneficial.
