Overview

A growing precision engineering company is seeking a skilled CNC Turner to join their night shift team. This permanent role involves operating and programming 2-axis CNC lathes to produce high-quality components across low to medium batch runs.

Key Details

Hours Mon-Wed 16:30-03:30, Thu 16:30-01:30 + i + 28 days holiday incl Bank Holidays + Government pension scheme + Healthcare plan + + Long-term career prospects

£32,000 - £38,000 (Depending on Experience) BASE + OTE £50,000 Via shift premium

Role Overview

You will be responsible for full machine setup, programming, and operation of CNC turning machines, producing components to tight tolerances and high-quality standards. The ideal candidate is confident working independently, has experience with G-code programming, and can adapt to both one-off and batch production.

Responsibilities
  • Program, set, and operate 2-axis CNC lathes
  • Write new CNC programs manually at the machine
  • Edit and optimise pre-existing programs, including tooling, speeds, and feeds
  • Use in-process measuring tools to ensure quality compliance
  • Manufacture components in a variety of hard and soft metals
  • Work from engineering drawings and adhere to strict tolerances and surface finish standards
  • Handle larger components (up to 300mm diameter × 3m length) with lifting equipment (training provided)
  • Maintain a safe, organised, and efficient workspace
Skills & Experience Required
  • Proven experience programming, setting, and operating 2-axis CNC machines
  • Strong knowledge of G-code and Manual Guide i software
  • Experienced in producing both one-off and small-to-medium batch precision components
  • Confident interpreting engineering drawings and geometric tolerances
  • Hands-on, proactive, and quality-driven work ethic
  • Previous experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with Fanuc controls advantageous
