Job description

Adecco Crewe are working with a leading precision engineering company seeking an experienced CNC Setter/Operator/Programmer to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled machinist to take ownership of complex, multi-axis machining projects and work within a supportive, high-performing production environment.

The Role

You will be responsible for setting, programming, and operating a range of CNC machines to produce high-quality components to tight tolerances. Working from technical drawings, you'll ensure that all parts meet specification and quality standards while contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate complex, multi-axis CNC machinery
  • Create, download, and adjust CNC programs as required
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, applying strong knowledge of GD&T
  • Carry out in-process inspections and record results
  • Adjust offsets, tool settings, and perform minor machine maintenance
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area in line with TPM principles
  • Support and train junior CNC personnel when required
  • Always adhere to Health & Safety and PPE requirements
About You

We're looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented CNC professional with a strong background in precision machining.

Essential Requirements
  • Experienced machinist with BTEC, City & Guilds, HNC, or equivalent qualification
  • Hands‑on CNC experience
  • Strong knowledge of CAD/CAM software and G & M codes
  • Proficient understanding of GD&T and ability to read complex engineering drawings
  • Experience with inspection tools such as micrometres, height gauges, shadow graphs, and CNC CMMs
  • Confident with maths, geometry, and trigonometry
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
Desirable
  • Experience with 6S / continuous improvement environments
