Job summary

Oadby Plastics is seeking a CNC Setter/Operator for their Leicester area site. You will edit, set up and run 3 axis CNC machines to exact specifications, interpreting CAD drawings and tolerances to deliver precise components.

Daily checks, safe practices, and collaboration with the CNC Lead will be essential. The role offers permanent, full-time hours with a two‑shift pattern and a competitive hourly rate (£14.30–£16).

Qualifications

• Experience programming 3 axis CNC machines using CAD/CAM software.
• Experience setting up and operating 3 axis CNC machinery.
• Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and specs.
• High attention to detail with precision measurement knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Edit, set up and operate 3 axis CNC machines to meet drawings and tolerances.
• Select materials and tools, perform first‑off and final checks for accuracy.
• Interpret CAD drawings and engineering information for consistent results.
• Carry out daily/weekly machine checks and report issues to supervisors.

What you will be doing

Working as part of the CNC team, the CNC 3 Axis Setter/Operator plays a key role in producing high‑quality components to exact specifications. You’ll be responsible for editing, setting and operating 3 axis CNC machinery, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and a strong focus on safety and quality throughout the process. In this role, you’ll help keep production running smoothly and support our wider goals across the department.

You day to day responsibilities include: -

• Editing, setting and operating 3 axis CNC machines to produce components that meet technical drawings, tolerances and quality standards.
• Selecting the right materials, tools and machining strategies, and carrying out first‑off and final checks to ensure accuracy.
• Interpreting CAD drawings and engineering information to deliver precise and consistent results.
• Performing daily and weekly machine checks, maintaining equipment, and reporting any issues to the CNC Lead Operator or Production Supervisor.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

• Experience programming (editing) 3 axis CNC machines using CAD/CAM software.
• Experience setting up and operating 3 axis CNC machinery.
• Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and machining specifications.
• High attention to detail with a strong understanding of precision measurement and machining processes.
• Salary - £14.30 - £16 per hour depending on experience
