Job description

CNC Programming Engineer - Lisburn

Salary : £30,000 - £40,000 (depending on experience)

Hours : Monday to Friday, 7 : 00am - 4 : 00pm (early finish 1 : 00pm Fridays)

We are seeking a highly capable CNC Programming Engineer to join our engineering and manufacturing team. This role focuses on programming and optimising CNC machinery for precision sheet metal fabrication using AMADA equipment. You will ensure efficient part nesting, accurate press brake programming, and robust data management to support high-quality, repeatable production.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop and optimise CNC programs for AMADA laser cutting machines to ensure precision, efficient material utilisation, and minimal waste.
• Generate press brake programs for AMADA bending operations, including tool selection, bend sequencing, and validation against customer drawings.
• Produce detailed production job cards containing all relevant setup and process data.
• Maintain and update cloud-based engineering systems to ensure all programs, nests, and job documentation are current and traceable.

Secondary Responsibilities

• Organise and standardise CNC program files to maintain a clean, structured file system for production teams.
• Provide technical support to operators and production staff, resolving programming or setup issues.
• Manage and maintain the customer CAD database, ensuring only verified and up-to-date drawings are used.

Technical Skills and Experience

• Proven experience programming AMADA CNC machinery (lasers and press brakes) with relevant CAD/CAM software.
• Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication principles, including nesting strategies, bend allowances, and tooling selection.
• Proficient in engineering drawing interpretation and GD&T.
• Competent in data management within cloud-based or ERP systems.
• Ability to implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and material utilisation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Desirable Attributes

• Experience with offline programming software for AMADA equipment (e.g., Dr. Abe, VPSS 3i).
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
• Basic knowledge of production planning systems and workflow optimisation.
• Commitment to precision, documentation, and quality assurance.
