A leading aerospace components manufacturer in Uxbridge is looking for an experienced CNC Workshop Manager. The role includes managing six team leaders and over 70 specialists to ensure high precision production. Successful candidates will have a demonstrable background in CNC management and performance improvement. This is a unique opportunity to lead one of the UK’s most advanced CNC workshops.

Overview

Your department produces low volume, high value, high precision aerospace components on a range of 2, 3, 4 and 5 axis CNC machines up to 10 micron tolerances.

To achieve this difficult and challenging task, you'll be managing 6 team leaders who in turn have over 70 skilled setter operator specialists producing prototype and production components to world class engineering standards.

Responsibilities
  • Manage 6 team leaders who in turn have over 70 skilled setter operator specialists producing prototype and production components to world class engineering standards.
  • Lead performance improvement, reviews, appraisals, disciplinaries and drive through change; experience in changing staff habits is vital.
  • Plan for succession, effective decision making in recruitment, and implement skills transfer and training plans in light of expected retirements.
  • Work on a daytime shift pattern: 7 on / 7 off, 7am to 5pm.
  • Be responsible for one of the most advanced and respected precision CNC workshops in the UK, producing parts that save about 25 lives a year.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Background in managing people in a CNC workshop, including performance improvement, reviews, appraisals, disciplinaries and driving through change.
  • Experience in changing staff habits and implementing succession planning and skills transfer.
  • Ability to make effective recruitment decisions and plan training to address capability gaps.
