Job summary

A recruitment agency in the United Kingdom seeks a CNC Operator. The ideal candidate will operate CNC machines, ensure machine health, and support new staff. Qualifications in engineering and basic CNC programming are preferred. This role requires working night shifts (10pm to 5am, Monday - Thursday) with a focus on safety and quality.   • Ability to understand instructions in various forms.

Responsibilities

  • Operate one or more CNC machines.
  • Complete daily health checks on machines.

  • Mentor and support new staff.

Job description
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Operate one or more CNC machines in the Cell
  • Complete a ‘machine health check list’ daily
  • Responsible for documenting and tracking in the Cell
  • Stamp off your own work
  • Report NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports)
  • Converse with the Production Team Leader and assist with other duties when needed
  • Maintain a safe and tidy work environment
  • Partake in training when required
  • Minimise the level of scrap components
  • Mentor and support new staff or apprentices
  • Establish key delivery dates/requirements with the Production Team Leader and Production Manager
  • Liaise with the Production Team Leader and communicate workshop issues to the CNC Setter / Charge Hand’s
Ideal Candidate
  • One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Engineering qualification preferably craft apprenticeship or equivalent
  • Basic CNC programming and machine competence
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be able to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardised situations
Working Hours
  • Monday – Thursday: 10pm to 5am
  • Friday: 5pm to 10pm
