Meritus is recruiting a CNC Operator for a permanent role in Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire. The job offers £17.92 per hour with initial training of about 6–9 months, after which salary increases and two shift options (4 On/4 Off, day or night).

Qualifications

• Experience operating CNC milling machinery in a precision engineering/manufacturing environment.
• Experience with high-speed CNC machining centres.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Good organisational and communication skills.
• Proactive with ability to meet production deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate high-speed CNC milling machines to carry out milling, drilling, tapping and grinding.
• Operate and supervise additional machine shop equipment when required.
• Ensure tooling, fixtures and CNC programs are prepared before production.
• Maintain production records including component quantities and scrap reporting.
• Take ownership of component quality and ensure work meets specifications.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Carry out basic program edits and tool offset adjustments.
• Monitor, replace and maintain tooling and cutters.
• Prepare and load raw materials onto machines.
• Check and maintain coolant and lubricant levels.
• Work with 3-axis and 4-axis CNC centres and Renishaw probing systems.
• Follow health and safety procedures and manufacturing protocols.
• Support continuous improvement and maintain high production standards.
