Overview

CNC Milling Machinist

Full time (42hrs) | Pennybridge, Ballymena

Salary £30 - £35k dependent on experience.

Smiths Engineering requires an experienced CNC Milling Machinist to set up and operate 3 & 5 axis CNC milling machining centres. The successful candidate will be required to set machines and prove out programs to enable the smooth running of production batches.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate 3 & 5 axis CNC milling centres; prove out programs to enable smooth production.

1. Set machines and verify tooling and workholding as required.
2. Carry out in-process checks and ensure parts meet specifications.
3. Collaborate with engineering to resolve machining issues and optimize processes.

Essential criteria

• Applicants must be time served or have level 3 engineering qualification at pass grade. (Or demonstrate suitable experience in other disciplines such as fitter / mechanic, joiner, electrician etc)
• CNC machining experience setting and machining on milling machines.
• Competency in finishing and inspecting machined parts.
• Read and understand technical drawings.
• Good attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of Heidenhain or Siemens controls.

Desirable criteria

• Experience in Vericut.
• CNC programming experience.
• Experience in Mastercam or similar CAM Software.

Shift

Dayshift - Monday to Thursday (8.30am - 5.00pm and Friday 8.30am - 4.00pm). Ability to work 12 hours shifts will be essential after training period.
