Job summary

A specialized recruitment agency is seeking a CNC Miller (Setter/Operator) for a precision engineering manufacturer in Essex. The role involves setting and operating CNC milling machines for low-batch production of aerospace-grade components, where quality and accuracy are critical. The ideal candidate will have experience with Hurco, Mazak, and Fanuc controls, and possess self-inspection skills using handheld metrology tools.

Job description
CNC Miller (Setter/Operator)

Location: Wickford, Essex

Rate: Weekly pay – Up to £20ph

Hours: Monday–Thursday, 8:00–16:30 / Friday, 8:00–15:30

Overtime: Paid at 1.5x basic

Syntech Recruitment are supporting a specialist precision engineering manufacturer in Essex who produce complex components for aerospace and other high‑spec sectors. Due to continued demand, they’re looking for a CNC Miller with solid setting and operating experience to join their dayshift team.

This is not a production line role — you’ll be working on low‑batch work (typically 1–25 off), where quality, accuracy, and attention to detail are everything.

CNC Miller Duties:
  • Setting and operating CNC milling machines
  • Working with Hurco, Mazak, and Fanuc controls
  • Editing datums and offsets as required
  • Producing components to tight aerospace‑level tolerances
  • Managing your own workflow on small‑batch and prototype‑style jobs
  • Carrying out your own self‑inspection using handheld metrology tools
CNC Miller Profile:
  • A proven CNC Miller (Setter/Operator)
  • Strong experience with Hurco, Mazak and/or Fanuc controls
  • Confident working on low‑volume, high‑value aerospace‑grade components
  • Ability to self‑inspect (verniers, micrometers, gauges etc.)
  • Someone who enjoys variety — not high‑volume production
